Jersey Invaders To Go in Laurel Rustic Billy/Painting Star, Bassanio, Abbezac Definite With Black Bounty Possibility By PALMER HEAGERTY Staff Correspondent LAUREL, Md., May 5.— Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Subahdar, expected highweight starter under 124 pounds in Saturdays , 5,000 added Laurel Handicap, was assured able competition in that mile and sixteenth affair when it was announced that four, possibly five, horses would be on hand from New Jersey for the event. The certainties at his time are Ogden Phipps Bassanio, Jacob Shers Pointing Star, Mrs. James V. Stewarts Rustic Billy and Ella K. Brysons Abbezac, while the question mark is John S. Phipps Black Bounty. . Despite the presence of the invaders in the starting line-up, the Jeffords gelding seems destined to carry the bulk of the public support. He stepped a mile and a sixteenth in 1:44, while winning his lone start this year with ridiculous ease and subsequently worked a mile in 1:43%. breezing. Rustic Billy was shipped to Garden State for the Valley Forge but failed to compete and is again in his local ztall. He is expected to race in the Laurel, wjhile Black Bounty remains a possibility after his Garden State score at a mile and a sixteenth in 1:43%. He has been assigned 109 for the local event, as compared to 110 for Rustic Billy. The only other probable starters at this time are Roy McClarins Spring Grove under 110 pounds and Willowbrook Stables Bad Conduct, who carries one pound less. Spring Grove was unplaced ■i** a recent; local sprint, while Bad Conduct has not raced since finishing sixth behind Subahdar in overnight competition. He will be ridden oy Eldon Nelson, with Charley Mc-Kee engaged for Spring Grove.
