COLUMBUS BOUND gradually worked way forward to the stretch, responded to strong handling during the drive and was up to dispose of SIR COUNTRY in the last strides. SIR COUNTRY, away sluggishly, improved position to the stretch, reached the lead between calls during the drive but was unable to hold the winner. RED SULTAN, away slowly and outrun to the stretch, closed strongly but was unable to reach the top pair. HASTY BEE raced welMo the final furlong, then faltered. ETERNAL SHOCK took an early lead, made the pace until inside the stretch but failed to stay. WAR SECRETARY was outrun and had no mishap. I DARE YOU had early speed but drifted out while tiring during the stretch run. SPICY BELLE had early foot. LITTLE CUB was outrun. MAJOR FITZ was through early. LOCKS, never far back, took command after entering the stretch and drew clear when ridden out. GREAT ADMIRAL, well placed early, bore to the inside when set down through the stretch and bothered MUSIC, was not good enough for the top one. then was disqualiifed for fouling and placed third. MUSIC began fast, raced well to the stretch, was tiring when impeded by GREAT ADMIRAL, then failed to recover. JOE PAGLINA made a bold bid in the early stretch but could not better his position when set down in the drive. SUPER BEE raced evenly without mishap. CANARY ISLAND had a rough race. SWANEES PENNY was never dangerous. MR. WIGGINS had early foot but failed to stay. ROYCE showed little. PLATTER SCOUT was through early. CHOMBRO raced evenly for a half mile, was sent to the outside for the drive, responded to good handling and disposed of BRASSY in the last sixteenth. The latter, never far back, reached the lead between calls during the stretch run but was unable to hold the winner. SEVENTH TRIBE, a keen factor from the outset, reached the lead during the drive, then faltered nearing the finish. LEAD PAD had no excuse. GOOD TIMES began slowly, STAR ACTOR went to the front early, set the pace to the stretch while engaging SEVENTH TRIBE, but had nothing left for the drive. LE SABRE showed nothing. HAL MARBUT, well placed from the start, reached the lead between calls in the stretch but was ont good enough for the winner. JOES BEST gave a good effort and had no mishap. BUCKEYE LANE raced wide. TRICO«was through early. PEACHTREE LASS took an early lead, made the pace to the final furlong then weakened. MR. GROVE bore out badly throughout, losing all chance. ALCAIDE lacked early foot but finished fast under punishment. ELKCHESTER raced evenly in a good effort and had no excuse. LADY ALIBI was never dangerous after the break and pulled up sore. GIGIS BABY went to the front at onces set the pace until inside the stretch but gave way when challenged by DEBBIE ANN. GOLLY, away fast, raced with MARY H. until inside the stretch, then faltered. IN CLOVER lacked early speed, then finished fast. PASTORAL steadily worked way forward to the "stretch, disposed of the leaders when set down in the drive and held SKY CAPERS safe. The latter, well placed early, was forced to the outside during the stretch run and could not reach the winner, although much the best of the others. GOLD MEDAL, never far back and racing next to the inner rail, made a bold bid in the early stretch, then weakened. FIGHTING BARB went to the front early, set the pace tothe last eighth mile, then tired. SERGEANT SPOOK gave a good effort and had no mishap. HERES JAKE was never dangerous. ROMP AND PLAY could not keep up after beginning fast. SPEEDY FOOT raced wide. PVT. SAM drifted out during the last three-eighths mile. DESTROYER showed nothing. MIKE THE CRIER began sluggishly.
