TO CASH immediately established a commanding lead, was given a light breather in the upper stretch and gamely responded to retain a safe advantage in the final stages. PETER LANE, taken up at the break to last place, was ajigost immediately hustled into contention on the inside, but came outside WONDROUS HOUR and lost some* ground on the stretch turn, then hung. WONDROUS HOUR raced in closest pursuit of the winner under pressure, slightly bore out entering the stretch and weakened. ALGASIR appeared threatening saving ground on the stretch turn, but appeared to ease himself up when WONDROUS HOUR drifted back in and in front of him in the last furlong. SHAMROCK HILL was lightly urged to reach contention on the turn, brushed with HAPPY CARRIER, wresting command under punishment just inside the furlong marker, but rapidly drew out and was being taken inland. EASTERN GLOW raced to the leaders under light , restraint, but was no match for the winner in the drive. HAPPY CARRIER rushed into a commanding lead on the final turn, drifted out, tiring in the stretch and brushed with the winner. MARYLAND LINE was outrun. COVER OFF and HEIRLOOM quit. HOOTSIE gave a dull effort. Overweight— Hootsie, 2 pounds. Attendance, 21,160; Total Mutuel Pool, ,777,822.
