Handicap Runners Work at Belmont Fisherman Drills For Metropolitan t Travels Five Furlongs in 1 :02; Social Outcast Sent Easy Half Mile in MVs BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 5,— Handicap horses with engagements in the Roseben, Metropolitan and Suburban commanded the most attention during the training hours here this bright, -sunny and somewhat sultry morning. C. V. Whitneys Fisherman and Fly Wheel, Alfred G. Vanderbilts Social Outcast and Calumet Farms Mark-Ye-Well all breezed on the main track. Fisherman, who was nosed out by Social Outcast in the Campbell Memorial then won the Excelsior, in his two outing this year, was under a snug hold as he stepped five furlongs in 1:02. His first objective is the Metropolitan Mile a week from Saturday. Fly Wheel, who is a candidate for the seven-furlong Roseben this Saturday, stepped a handy six furlongs in 1:13 with fractions of :35y5, AIVs and 1:00%. Social Outcast was paced by Odd Trick as he went an easy half in :47%. He is also pointing for the Metropolitan, but is eligible- to go farther afield. Odd Trick was beaten a couple of lengths by his more exalted companion. Mark-Ye-Well Impresses Mark-Ye-Well, who has been showing signs of a return to his best form, both in his rather unlucky, race in the Excelsior and in his training moves; finished impressively as he went a half in :47%. Jimmy Jones breezed a couple of the Calumet juveniles a slow three furlongs on the main course this morning. Cherokee Chief, a half-brother to c Pensive by Bull Lea, was clocked in :37%. Captain Morgan, a son of Bull Lea from the brilliant Two Bob, dam of *Miz Clementine, was clocked in :37%. Neither colt was really set down. Rokeby Stables Cup Man and Currituck impressed the work watchers as they ripped off" five furlongs -in 1:00%, handily. Cup Man is eligible to the Withers Mile on May 21. Over at Aqueduct, Joe W. Browns Rose-, ben candidate, Bobby Brocato, showed that he is holding his fine form by going a handy five furlongs in 1:01% in style that impressed the dockers. The Natchez four-year-old won the Paumonok and finished between Sailor and the ill-fated White Skies in his last two starts.
