Ennlands Foal Stakes To Mrs. Hanes# Calcutta Favorite Prevails With Carr Up; Clarks Ticonderoga Disqualified I Special to Daily Racing Form CHESTER, England, May 5 Reuters— Calcutta, odds-on favorite at 8 to 11, led almost throughout to win the Lily Agnes Foal Stakes of. five furlongs here today, with jockey Harry Carr sporting the silks of Mrs. John W. Hanes, wife of The Jockey Club U. S. member. Calcutta, by the 1950 Two Thousand Guineas winner, Palestine, out of Kirsch, hugged the rails on this tricky, circular course and beat 11 to 2 shot Girl in Blue by a length and a half. Bravura, a 100-to-6 chance, was a neck away, third of eight starters. Calcutta, who gained an easy victory at Epsom Downs last month, won ,671 in todays stakes, which put trainer Captain Boyd Rochfort further ahead on the winning trainers list. The five furlongs were negotiated by Calcutta in 1 : 05 flat. In the days main feature, the ,000 Ormonde Stakes at 10 furlongs, Robert Sterling Clarks Ticonderoga, with Lester Piggott astride, was first past the wire, a short head in front of Lord Ellesmeres Northcone. Eph Smith, up on Northcone, immediately objected against Ticonderoga on the grounds of bumping and boring. The objection was sustained and Clarks American -bred three-year-old was disqualified out of all placings. Piggott made admirable efforts to prevent trouble, but Ticonderoga hung badly toward Northcone in a terrific last furlong setto.
