All Stalls Are Assigned For River Downs Meet Barns Will Fill Rapidly Following Close of Churchill Downs7 Racing CINCINNATI, Ohio, May 9. — Leon A. Slavin, president of River Downs, today announced that all stalls on the grounds of the Hamilton County course have been assigned for the 44-day meeting opening on Friday, May 25. In making the announcement Slavin said, "The stables we have approved assure our patrons of a greatly improved class of horses over those seen here since the- track opened 30 years ago. We have a limited waiting list and some of these horses will be* invited here should we have some late cancellations." At this time 120 horses are stabled on the grounds but the barns will fill rapidly following next weeks close of racing at Churchill Downs. Prior to the running down of the curtain .at Louisville a number of stables are expected from Chicago, Keeneland and other points. When complete the colony of horses will embrace approximately 975 performers. This year five stakes will be included among numerous feature events to be presented during the meeting which also brings the first racing over the tracks new seven furlongs turf course. Work on many major improvements will be completed within the next few days leaving only less important matters for* the attention of workmen during the interval before the meeting gets under way.
