Seventeen Sophomores Are Debonair Nominees Saturdays Hollywood Park Stakes Attracts Blen Host, Johnie Mike HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewocd, Calif., May 9. — Seventeen three-year-old colts and geldings, most of them opening a campaign j that may be climaxed in the 5,000 added "Westerner July 21, have been nominated for the 5,000 added Debonair Stakes. Hollywood Parks opening feature for the sophomores will be run Saturday, second day of the 55-day meeting, at six furlongs. The list of nominations, which was released today by racing secretary John Maluvius, includes Ga2:elle Stables Blen Host, and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Armstrongs Johnie Mike and Ranch Tecoletes Tecolo-tito, all stakes winners who excel at the sprint distance. j Blen Host, winner of a division of the June Juvenile Stakes last year at Holly-park, has started only once since the Santa Anita Derby. In that mile and one-eighth event he led the field into the stretch before tiring. He finished sixth, less than three lengths behind Terrang, the winner. Johnie Mike was the early meeting sensation at Santa Anita. He won the Los Feliz Stakes before finishing second to Count Chic in the San Miguel Stakes. The speedy Washington-bred recently showed a return to top form when he drilled six furlongs in 1:104/5 between races at Tanforan.
