MURPHY SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, III., May 9. — Streaking, eight-year-old gray gelding who one yeaa* ago was crowned the champion of a Sportsmans Park meeting, went the full mile and five-sixteenths in front this afternoon to finish first in Endurance Handicap No. 3. He was not declared the official winner, however, until the stewards had threshed out a foul claim lodged by jockey Dell Jessop, who rode Sito, an outsider; who finished second. Streaking and Sito brushed when the latter moved up entering the stretch and both horses appeared to stumble at the same time. However, the photographs revealed that no foul has been committed. Top Choices Badly Outrun Bookworm finished third in the seven-horse race while the favorite, Foganazo. and the second choice Cascanuez, were badly outrun all the way and beaten off at the end. Streaking, winner of Endurance Handciap No. 1, run the first week of the meeting, paid 0.40 and was ridden by Howard Craig for that lads second score of the afternoon. The time of 2:42 was a track record as the distance of the mile and five-sixteenths had never before been traversed at the course. The track was very muddy and the attendance was 9,193 in cloudy and rather muggy weather. Then after one mile had been covered Sito moved up to cut into the leaders margin and rounding the stretch turn was about on equal terms with him. Just as it seemed as if Sito.was bound to pass Streaking he faltered and the latter again took a clear advantage and won by one and one-half lengths. Bookworm raced steadily but Cas-canuez and Fogonazo were never in the hunt. Jockey Job Jessop Rode his second winner of the day in the sixth race. He was aboard Sun Jeep in the six-furlong fracas and his mount caught the pacemaking mark question in the stretch to win going away by a couple pf length. Rock Dozer was a belated third in the eight-horse field. The silks of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Van-" Berg were seen in front twice during the forepart of the afternoon, when James T. won the second race and Paris All took the fifth. The latter was an outsider and paid 1.40. He took the measure of the favored Steven S. by three parts of a length, with Job Jessop in the saddle. James T., ridden by Wilile Cox, came from behind Jo pass Great Threat in the stretch and hold Barshoe. Jockey Cox also rode the short-priced choice, What a Step, to success in the [ third to make it a double on the day. The winning three-year-cld was much the best-: of his field and led throughout to score by j six lengths from Angel Breath. | j The Daily Double combination of Miz : Zareta, the first winner, and James T. paid 3.60. Miz Zareta, ridden by Howard Craig, was the second choice and she trimmed the outsider. Flying Redbird. Frawley, coming off two straight victories, was the public choice, but finished fourth. Ginger C, ridden by William Carroll, beat Miss Eyeful in a tight finish in the fourth. The pair raced as if a team through the first furlong, wit hthe winners margin I being but a nose.
