I I Comforts, Conveniences For Fans at Homewood All-Weather Interiors One of Features for Balmoral, Meeting HOMEWOOD, 111., May 9.— Racing fans will be treated to comforts and conveniences of the topmost variety during the 30-day Balmoral meeting which opens Monday at Washington Park. Nothing has been overlooked at the local plant for the comfort of fans, with the crowning effort heated interiors for the cool weather and an air-conditioned glass-enclosed clubhouse in warm weather. During a hot, muggy day all levels of the Washington Park clubhouse interior will be air-conditioned. If the mercury soars to a sweltering 95 degrees outside, the giant Washington Park refrigeration units will keep inside temperatures at about a comfortable 75-78 degrees. And if a cool spell overtakes the meeting, both the clubhouse and the first level of the grandstand will be heated for the fans comfort. The combined air-conditioning-heating installation is another step in the Arlington Park-Washington Park long-range improvement program based on Executive Director Benjamin F. Lindheimers theory that the sports fan is entitled to every comfort and consideration. Besides the "all-weather" interiors at Washington Park, fans also will find that both dining rooms, in the clubhouse and grandstand, have been air-conditioned and sound-proofed for 1956. Featured again for the Balmoral-at-Washington Park meeting will be the seven - unit escalator system, serving .both levels of the tracks grandstand and clubhouse. Another first is free bus service, which Washington Park will provide every racing day for auto patrons to and from the far parking lots* Immediately after the last race each day the buses will load at the finish line in front of the stands. Another public convenience for 56 will be paved parking, and there is space for over 15,000 cars on Washington Parks own grounds. A "kill joy" for a sports fan is a stalled car but at Washington Park emergency repair trucks patrol the parking area, ready to provide immediate and free service for minor troubles, like a motor stall, a flat tire, a locked door, etc.
