Preakness Hopefuls Entered Today Scheduled Starters In Pimlico Feature Nahodah and Morning After Among Field of Eight Named For Mile, Sixteenth Offering PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 9.— Two Preakness possibilities — Montpeliers Naho-dah and Roslyn Farms Morning After— and Mrs. Colin MacLeods Obair, unbeaten in three starts this year, head a field of eight for Thursdays featured Druid Hill Purse. Others in the mile and a sixteenth test are: Mrs. Henry H. Hechts Rhy Dress, Richard Douglas Flotilla, L. W. Donovans Romantic Miss, Mrs. Bayard Sharps Big Comber and T. H. Brooks Prince Raider. Nahodah and Morning After last raced in Laurels Chesapeake Stakes," finishing" fourth and seventh, respectively. -The roughly-run affair found Nahodah one of the -principal sufferers and he still was beaten only three lengths for all of the money. That was his first start since Florida and he is eligible for improvement. Morning After was less than a half dozen lengths behind the winner and rates serious consideration Thursday. A good effort by either colt could earn him a starting position in the Preakness Prep, with a second jewel in racings Triple Crown also a possibility. Obairs First Try Oyer Six Furlongs* Obair, whose stablemate Besomer was unplaced in the Kentucky Derby, could conceivably turn out to be the better of the two colts. The son of Occupation-Fibster, after graduating at Laurel in 1:12%, came back to win in 1:12% over Charro, then turned in his best race to whip Bob. Austin, Masud and others in 1:12 flat over a muddy strip. This will mark his initial attempt at more than six furlongs but he has displayed good speed in the late stages of his races, indicating that he is capable of handling the mile and a sixteenth distance. " , While Jhese three make up the "big three" of the Druid Hill, there is a possibility that Rhy Dress could prove troublesome. He has been freshened since finishing third behind Morning After and Tactical at Bowie in a race in which he experienced considerable trouble. Another good race on Thursdays card is the mile and a sixteenth Monumental Purse, which matches six older horses for a purse of ,000. Most prominent of the aspirants are Roslyri Farms Go Lightly and Filippo Baldis Dinner Winner, while Mrs. Henry A. Parr Iil.s Coalport, E. M. Warners Hand Reward, J. V. Thompsons Grand Graphen and Mrs. T. Christophers Silver Rab are also in the field. Go Lightly beat a field which included Walter M. Jeffords Open Sesame at Laurel, covering a mile and a sixteenth in 1:44%, then was beaten just two lengths when unplaced in the Laurel Handicap. Dinner Winner has been holding his own against top sprinters of late and boasts a victory in 1:11 during the Bowie meeting. He; has, in . past seasons, carried his speed for Thursdays distance and figures prominently. The Belvedere Handicap series gets under way at a mile and a sixteenth and will be run as the eighth race. This starters handicap, for horses which have raced for ,500, usually develops into an interesting series and the current one seems likely to do likewise. Entrants are Laran, Vinmaybe, Irritate, Antigua, Yama, Lily B., Big Cat, Steel, Zevette, Granneal, Colony Dame and Rouge Maid.
