ROYAL PUNCH alertly set up a clear lead, responded to strong handling in the stretch and outlasted A TOUTE FORCE. The latter, forwardly placed on the outside, launched his rally entering the stretch and was gradually getting to the winner. OFF WE GO moved up gradually down the backstretch, came wide into the stretch and could not threaten with a late rally. VANDANELL followed the pace-and tired slightly at the finish. CANT PLEASE saved ground to improve position into the stretch, then hung. FLEET MOMENT tired. WICKED SUSAN dropped back steadily after the first quarter. SKY JEEP was between horses early, shook clear in midstretch, where he was asked for his best, readily assumed command entering the stretch and despite his widening margin was ridden out to the finish. TORPEDO STAR disposed of DOUBLE DINE to gain a short-lived lead between calls, gave way to the winner, then held on fairly well. KRIS KRINGLE, bumped going to the first turn, recovered well, to maintain a forward position but lacked a rally. DOUBLE DINE quickly set up a clear advantage but tired once displaced from the lead. GRAY VISION had a rough trip going to the first turn, maintained a forward position on the outside under light restraint, came outside horses entering the . stretch and, after gaining a slight advantage, drew out slightly in the final sixteenth. MERLEE was between horses entering the stretch and while holding on gamely could not match speed with the winner in the final stages. PEGMURF disposed of INDIAN DANCE, saved ground into the stretch and tired. WHY BILL, away poorly, closed a. good gap. HILL FIRE saved ground to no avail. CINDYAM broke poorly. INDIAN DANCE tired. JOHNS PAL closed a big gap far back, but could not reach the winner. SPECIAL CHOICE came between horses, but could not menace the top pair. BABCHA followed the pace, then loomed a threat entering the stretch which between horses, but tired.
