The latter held a menacing position from the start and, after being slow to respond, was wearing down the winner. SAG NIPPER attained a clear lead on the turn and faltered. PRINCETON rallied well through the stretch to attain command, then drew clear rapidly under mild urging. BRINY DEEP responded well to wear down the others. BLOOMIN OWL raced evenly. GAUDEAMUS displaced speed to outsprint JOLLY RHYMER, bothered that rival and attained a clear advantage near the furlong pole, then falttened out in the late stages. JOLLY RHYMER saved ground while racing for command and was deprived of all chance when bothered by GAUBEAMUS. There was an inquiry by the stewards, but the result was unchanged. RICCI TAVI followed the pace closely while under restraint, then circled the leaders when ready «nd drew clear to win with speed in reserve. He went out seven furlongs in 1:26!/s. INVICTO broke tardily and was no "match for the winner, but rallied to wear down the others. He went out a mile in 1:42%. HI-SAG attained a slight lead briefly immediately after a half, then faltered badly. BAN was never a threat. RESTRAINED set the pace for a half and flattened out. NICK JIMMIE outsprinted EARLY WARNING for the early advantage, disposed of that one and held cn tenaciously to his advantage over DO REPORT. The latter was well placed without being rushed, responded to pressure but was unable to wear down the winner. THINKING CAP made up ground but failed to. menace the top pair. GREAT HABIT was unhurried while outrun early attained prominence after six furlongs and won without the need of pressure. BRIEF REPORT was always formidable, held a slight lead on the final turn and into the stretch, but was no match for the winner. WAR BISCUIT was rated close to the pace, but failed to secure room-along the hedge entering the stretch, then was sent through a narrow opening between horses and wore down horses.
