► Work Nances Lad Over Straightaway Runs Six Panels at Belmont In 1:131/5; King Hairan Is Clocked Easy Half in :474/i BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., May 9. The Widener straightaway was opened for training this morning and eight horses took advantage of the opportunity to get the feel of the chute. Hilton "Rabbit" Dabsons hard-hitting Nances Lad sped down six furlongs of the straight course in 1:13%, just breezing, in preparation for Mondays Toboggan Handicap. The opening day feature, of course, is at that distance and on this course. Leo Edwards and Harris 1. Masseys King Hairan, winner of his first four starts in Florida, went a very easy half in :4745 on the Widener Course. The son of Kings Stride, who was unplaced in the Gulf-stream Park Juvenile last out, appears ready to make amends for that defeat. Social Outcast Gallops While there was considerable activity on the main track, which was fast, stakes horses were confined to gallops for the most part. Alfred G. Vanderbilts Social Outcast, who recently returned to training, was hardly more than galloping as he breezed six furlongs in 1:16. Over on the training track, Howell E. Jacksons Acorn Stakes candidate, Nasrina, went a handy half in :51, creditable move on that deep strip. Cain Hoy Stables recent winner, Ethel Walker, breezed flte same distance in :53 as a blowout for tomorrows sixth race. Over at Aqueduct, Ogden Phipps vastly • improved Phoo Bno went a handy five fur-j longs in 1:01%. on the fast track. The filly is an Acorn candidate. G. S. Colellas De-■ livery Man, a handsome juvenile who has tnot yet started, breezed an easy three fur-I longs in :37% for Johnny Nerud. I T. P. Morgans Bertie, who tired badly , in his last outing, went a handy five fur-j longs in 1:01 at Jamaica. Revolt hung up j the same figures in a move from the gate. jThe recent winner.
