BOBS PAMELA gradually worked way forward to the stretch, closed determinedly under punishment but could not reach the top one REBELLED took an early lead, made the pace to the stretch while under pressure from SUDUESE but faltered when set down in the drive. HARD TOP was outrun and had no mishap. SPRINGBACK failed to respond when set down through the stretch. CARLO C. was never dangerous and had no excuse SHILLELAH MIKE was through early. MY THESIS made a good bid nearing the stretch, but could not seriously threaten the leaders when set down in the drive. GOATS BEL raced well for a half mile, then weakened. COMPASS BOX, a sharp factor from the start, finished strongly but could not overtake the top one. BABYS PAL raced evenly to the stretch, responded readily when hard urged during the drive, but was unable to overtake the leaders. AIR PINE saved ground from the start, but failed to rally when set down for the stretch run. ROLL BAMA raced well to the final furlong, then weakened. FLYING PAT had early speed, but bore out during the stretch run. RED ACE began fast, but dropped out of serious contention soon after the break. ASSISTANCE began slowly and raced far back throughout. SWAPS, alertly ridden, took command soon after the start, raced TRIM DESTINY into defeat before reaching the upper turn, responded readily when challenged by NASHUA during the stretch run and drew clear in the last sixteenth mile. NASHUA, well placed from the outset, was kept in hand to the last three-eighths mile, moved up boldly on the outside of SWAPS for the stretch run but was not good enough for the latter, although much the best of the others. SUMMER TAN, never far back and reserved to the last half mile, made a mild bid approaching the stretch, then faltered. RACING FOOL, in hand to the stretch, was unable to threaten the leaders when set down in the drive. JEANS JOE lacked early foot and was never dangerous. FLYING FURY began sluggishly and was never prominent. HONEYS. ALIBI was outrun and had no mishap. BLUE LEM raced far back the entire trip. NABESNA was through early.
