NAISHAPURS YOUNG PROGENY Will Reach Racing Age Next Year Now at California Farm of Edwin Janss II. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 3. In Kentucky for a stay not likely to conclude until the local spring meeting has been completed, John B. McKee, recognized as one of the countrys best judges of thoroughbreds, is keeping his sharp eyes peeled in search of another Naishapur. A son of Omar Khayyam, the only imported horse listed among winners of the Kentucky Derby, Naishapur finished second to Clyde "Van Dusen in the Derby of 1929. At the time he was owned by Chaffee Earl, young California patron, and trained by McKee. Other of Naishapurs accomplishments after McKee, who was acting for Earl, purchased him from Edward Cebrian, included a victory in the Tijuana Derby and seconds in the 00,000 Coffroth Handicap and the American Derby. Injuries suffered at the post in the latter Washington Park race just about ruined Naishapur as a racing tool. However, you will again hear of Naishapur in connection with Derbys and other rich stakes and handicaps, according to McKee. READY NEXT YEAR. Retired for breeding purposes several years ago, Naishapurs first get, all produced in Texas, will reach racing age next year. Some of his year-old descendants look good to McKee and may duplicate their sires feat of running a mile in 1:3754 as a two-year-old. Fashionably bred on both sides, his dam being Scramble, by Le Melior, and second dam by Meddler, Naishapur will receive a wonderful opportunity to display his true value as a progenator at the Conejo Ranch of Edwin Janss II., youthful Californian. Naishapur is making his first season at Conejo Ranch, which is located about forty miles from Los Angeles. Young Janss, in partnership with his father and brother, is stocking Conejo with choice young mares and, on what the Janss plan, Naishapur hardly could be placed to better advantage. Boxthorn and other horses are being raced by the Janss family and the stable will be replenished with stock produced at Conejo in seasons to come.
