WILLIAMS AND STUTTS CASE Kentucky Racing Commission Modifies Ruling Against Pair Other Important Matters. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 3. Richard D. Williams of Louisville, former owner, trainer and breeder, and former jockey Harry Stutts, who were ruled off the turf March 20, 1926, were granted modifications of that sentence by the Kentucky State Racing Commission at its meeting here today. Both will be permitted on Kentucky tracks, but will not be given licenses to pursue their former professions. Williams and Stutts were involved in the jockey ring which was exposed following the 1925 season, in which two other trainers and several other jockeys were implicated. Williams has applied numerous times for reinstatement, but previous commissions refused to act on the matter. Present at todays meeting were chairman Johnson N. Camden, Polk Laffoon, C. L. Croan, Sewell S. Combs and secretary Thomas B. Underwood. William E. Smith was the only absentee. The commission appointed Charles F. Price, C. Bruce Head, Sam McMeekin, S. C. Nuchols and Thomas C Bradley as members of the license committee. The suspension of Dr. John Baird was ordered ended at the request of the Thoroughbred Club of America. Dr. Baird, former manager of Coldstream Stud, who is now seriously ill, violated the rule governing" claiming races at Keeneland last fall W. S. Hughes of Versailles was appointed supervisor of pari-mutuels at all state tracks, and L. G. Theisen was named telegraph censor for the spring meeting at Keeneland. The commission approved the transfer of the licenses and dates granted to Churchill-Downs, Inc., and Latonia Jockey Club to the newly-formed Churchill Downs-Latonia, Inc. Dade Park was granted a license to operate this year, and the Keeneland officials were approved as follows: Stewards, Pierre Lorillard, Jr., L. A. Beard, Brownell Combs, C. Barry Shannon, W. Arnold Hangar, J. o! Keene, Charles Nuckols, C. G. Middleton and Roy Carruthers; placing judges, J. j. Graddy, S. S. Brown and A. R. Winters; clerk of scales, Fred Burton; paddock judge C. H. Holmes; timer, William Cunningham-patrol judges, Waller Jones and George Swain; starter, William Hamilton, and racing secretary, Charles J. McLennan. It was voted to hold the next meeting Friday night, April 16, the eve of Keenelanda opening here.
