I CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES s . 4 Miss Mary Hirsch, whose No Sir is included among certain starters in the Derby Friday advised Jake Lowenstein that the colt and others in her stable would arrive at Churchill Downs from Hialeah Park next Tuesday. No Sir holds a victory over the current Derby favorite, Pompoon. One Derby candidate, Mrs. Frank J. Navins Kermay, left the scene of the race, trainer Lee ODonnell having shipped him and several others to Keeneland, where they will participate in the spring meeting which precedes the local season. William H. Shelley and his sons, Robert S. and William J., wish to express their thanks for the many flowers and expressions of sympathy received after the death of Mrs. Emma Shelley. Scores of friends connected with racing sent messages of condolence while many others sent flowers. Mrs. Shelley died in Battle Creek, Mich., following a long illness. Mr. and Mrs. Edward K. Thornton have returned to their home in Kansas City after burying a life-long friend. Miss Mary Kelly, here several days ago. Miss Kelly died in California and the Thorntons accompanied the body here. Mr. Thornton Is steward In charge of racing at Riverside Park and has been connected with the sport for many years. Charles F. Price, in charge of racing at all the tracks of the American Turf Association, was back at his desk at the Downs and announced that condition books and stakes .nominations for the coming meeting would be ! ready for distribution early next week.
