WORTHINGTON VALLEY, Md., April 3 A serious blow was struck Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilts stable today when Chanceview recently purchased for 0,000, developed a blind quartercrack, while Balking, which equalled the worlds three furlongs record of :33 last winter at Santa Anita, had the firing irons applied to a suspicious leg. The accident to Chanceview means the five-year-old gelded son of Chance Shot and Look Up will not start in the ,000 Southern Maryland Handicap on April 10 at Bowie. As a result, the Araho Stables Mucho Gusto and New Deal, which ran one-three in the Rowe Memorial there, become the early favorites for the final feature at the Prince George county track. Chanceview wa3 also being pointed for the ,500 Philadelphia Handicap on April 17 at Havre de Grace and the 0,000 Dixie next month at Pimlico. Balking, black daughter of Balko and Bodega, was unbeaten in three starts. She was pointing for the ,500 Aberdeen Stakes on April 27 at Havre de Grace.
