WHITNEYS MAIN DIVISION i Twenty-Two Under Trainer Healey a Care at Owners Farm. Flying Cross and Black Look Stables Candidates for Kentucky Derby List of Juveniles. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 3. Thomas J. Healey is training twenty-two thoroughbreds, composing the main division of the C. V. Whitney stable at their owners farm near, here and, taking advantage of the unusual open weather this spring, he intends to have a good share of them ready to race during the Keeneland. meeting. Most interest in the Whitney string Is being placed in Flying Cross and Black Look, which are candidates for the Kentucky Derby and other important events for three-year-olds. They are now being pointed for the Blue Grass Stakes, and after that feature of the Keeneland meeting will bo transferred to Churchill Downs with other members of the stable, which are intended for campaigning at that point, while tho remainder will be shipped to Belmont Park; Both of the Whitney three-year-olds are well along in their training, but trainer Healey Is yet unable to say which he believes will prove the more successful. Flying Cross was the. busiest one .of. .the pair last year and showed a creditable performance In running third in the Belmont Futurity. Black Look started only four times as a juvenile, being kept out of competition for a long time by sickness. VETERANS OF STRING. Roustabout, six-year-old gelding, and Tatterdemalion, four-year-old colt, are the veterans of the stable. They are training right along with the Derby hopefuU and are intended for handicap racing. Their first major objective is the 0,000 Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs. Roustabout, especially, appears in fine condition. Other three-year-olds under Healeys cara are Post Meridian, a gelding, -and Lovely Day, Peplum and White Sand. The latter three will be pointed for the various Oaks events. The two-year-olds are royally-bred and Include Dressage, a sister to Coldstream; Flycatcher, a brother to Top Flight, and Singing Top, the first foal of Top Flight. Ono of the youngsters, Spamadness, is owned by Mrs. G. Miller, Whitneys sister. Jockeys "Sonny" Workman and Willie Nertney are assisting trainer Healey in the preparation of the Whitney horses, and they will remain with them throughout the Kentucky campaign. Workman has returned to riding weight after enjoying a brief vacation after his winter season at Santa Anita. Ten other horses that will sport tha familiar Eton blue and brown Whitney silks are now at Belmont Park in charge of John A. Healey. Most of these horses saw service at Santa Anita this winter. Flycatcher, b. c, by Dis Done Flyatit; Millrace, b. c, by St. Germans Pearl River; Trade, br. c, by Royal Minstrel Traffic; Xavier, b. c, by Whichone Xanthina; Cravat, b. o, by Sickle Frilettc. Unnamed chestnut colt, by Pennant Transit. Fly Swatter, a brown daughter of Dis Dono and Miss Whisk, is the lone two-year-old under the younger Healeys care at Belmont Park. The others are Trumpery, Jabot, Rough Diamond, Bright Plumage, Piccolo, Red Rain, Bagpipe, Percent and Ptolemy.
