ROMNEY ROYAL, outrun early, worked his way forward readily and finished gamely, although he was no match for the winner. REGULA BADDUN, hustled hard while racing prominently, held on gamely to the close. HERMANITA raced in. the first flight and was easily best of the others. QUEEN VIC could hot threaten. EL BANDIDO, forced to race on the outside, rallied to punishment and finished courageously. OUT OF STEP raced prominently and closed with good energy. CHANCE QUEEN was hustled hard all the way, but could not menace. FERVID lacked early speed and could not threaten. SCOTCH PEPPER was unable to reach contention. MISS MONK had no excuses. JOURNEY ON outran his field to the first turn, stalled off stiff contention from UBALD G., withstood a drive gamely in the late stagesand barely lasted long enough to outstay TOBACCO BUYER. The latter worked his way forward while saving ground to the far turn, then came to the outside and finished strongly. PHILLIPS PETE, messed about badly after being hurried into a contending position, came with a belated rush between horses in the final drive. BOLD GENERAL was stoutly handled throughout and raced well. UBALD G. was ridden vigorously to hold a forward position, but tired in the final test. FOOLEM, permitted to race wide from the start, lost a great deal of ground when carried out at the stretch turn, only for which he may have been closer. WHITTLE tired in the final half mile. BLACK RIVER was under extreme pressure while setting the pace and held on with excellent courage to the finish. NAD raced forwardly, but could not stay with the leaders. MAETALL raced closest to the winner after a bad jam occurred after the start and was easily best of the others. RADIO CHARM could not better his position., MISS APPREHEND was squeezed back and was held safe. BOLD TURK was also shuffled back.
