SEQUOIA, hard hustled from the start, took the lead soon after the break, saved ground throughout and held CAPITALIST safe. The latter raced well up from the start, responded well to hard urging, but was not good enough. LADY BUCK showed a good effort and finished gamely. SPITTENIMAGE had no excuses. WHOA BACK broke slowly and made up some ground in the last three-eighths. DOROTHY HICKS tired in the drive. YINAHA acted badly at the post, broke from outside the stalls and was eliminated at the start. GOLDMAN displayed the most speed from the break, set a good pace under light restraint and drew away in the final three-sixteenths to win with something in reserve. SKY CLOUD raced prominently from the start and held on with good courage, though tiring. BABY WAY saved ground throughout and showed a good effort. STAR BESS began slowly, worked her way up on the outside and Finished strongly. HIGH MABEL had speed for a half mile and tired thereafter. SMART GIRL was in close quarters during the stretch racing. The latter, away fast, displayed a good burst of speed and held on camelv in a hard drive. MAIDEN DREAM lost some ground at the stretch turn and tired near the end. NEDS AFFINITY closed with a rush. SURVEYOR broke well, dropped back and made up ground gradually thereafter, but was no match for the winner. SILVERETTE improved her position gradually and finished well. GETALONG was unable to keep up in the early stages, raced around on the outside in W iF,. .frcteh and closed strongly. CARDARRONE could not keep up. ALMA MAE tired badly in the stretch. EASTPORT, away fast and saving ground while setting the pace, came out in the final quarter and, after bumping SIR MIDAS in the last eighth, drew clear, but was extended fully. ZOR was far back for three-quarters, came through on the inside in the final eighth and finished with a rush. SIR MIDAS worked his way up on the inside, suffered from interference in the stretch and tired in the final stages. GALLANT EAGLE was pinched back entering the back stretch, worked his way up on the -outside when clear and finished strongly. MARY VITO was much used forcing the pace for three-quarters and tired. CARL S. raced evenly throughout. OVERPLAY had no mishaps. MIBS had early speed. TETRASHERA was never a factor. LAME DUCK, cleverly handled, was rated close to the pace, disposed of SLEEPY JOE after reaching the final quarter and held AUKAI safe. The latter improved his position gradually, responded well to strong urging and was slowly getting to the winner. SLEEPY JOE was much used setting the early pace and tired. CROSS RUFF had no mishaps.
