DWYER, JR.S SKULL FRACTURE Son of Tropical Park Owner Thrown From Mount After Finish of Race Wednesday. MIAMI, Fla., April 3. William Vincent Dwyer, Jr., son of the general manager of Tropical Park, who fell from his horse at the finish of a race at the track Wednesday, suffered a fractured skull and is now in a serious condition at Alton Road Hospital, Miami Beach, it was announced Friday by his family and friends. Young Dwyer was thrown just after the finish of the race for gentlemen jockeys for the Flamingo Polo Club Purse, in which he rode J. A. Wodocks Sandy Boy. As he passed the three-quarter post, Sandy Boys saddle slipped, but Dwyer managed to finish fourth. While he was easing his mount after the finish, Dwyer was pitched from the saddle, striking on his head and shoulders. He was unconscious for half an hour but later was revived and taken home. There he was given first aid treatment for bruises and abrasions. When he complained of a severe headache Thursday afternoon he was taken to Alton Road Hospital. His physician reported Friday that an X-ray showed he had suffered a six-inch fracture of the skull. "While his condition is serious, I would not say that it is now critical," said Dr. Weinkle.
