WEDDING BAND went to the front at once, held sway to the stretch under steady rating, then maintained a safe advantage when ridden out. BLACK POPPY raced in nearest pursuit of the leader from immediately after the start, lacked the necessary rally to overtake the winner, but easily prevailed over the others. METOPIA closed too belatedly to become an endangering factor- IMPERIAL LAMAR, much used early, had little left. STAR NYMPH was outrun. PALOS failed to stay. BLAST OROSES passed tiring horses. DARCY sprinted into a lengthy lead immediately after the start, shortened stride inside the stretch and was no match for the winner when the real test came. COMPILE raced evenly from the three-furlong marker to the stands without mishap. BIT 0 HOPE raced wide throughout. FAIRY SEA quit. NANOOK was outdistanced eraly. The latter was sent into the runner-up position after being straightened for the drive, responded to brisk urging during the-lae stages and gradually was wearing down the top one. OBERON came out to the middle of the track for the stretch, run, but was not good enough. LABROOK failed to stay. JOY K. quit. PEE-JAY was outdistanced early as usual. PRINCE TIP never threatened. SWIFT SWORD saved ground next to the inner rail while setting the early pace, tired when punished and was unable to withstand the winner. WAR POINTER reached near even terms for the lead entering the stretch, but failed to respond when called upon for his best effort. DEAR BRUTUS lacked the necessary rally. GUAYANA was outrun.
