Big Influx of Horses At Narragansett Track Bonsai Beds Down Fifteen Head For Meeting Opening on Monday PAWTUCKET, R. I., Aug. 20. One of the heaviest influx of horses to hit Narragansett Park in years began arriving from widely scattered sections of the country today for the 24-day autumn meeting opening Monday. The incessant unloading of thoroughbreds from vans and railroad cars kept stall superintendent Milton McMahon busy from the wee hours of the morning with the checking in of what undoubtedly is the greatest number of racers reaching the course in any one day: Frank A. Bonsai, the veteran Maryland owner-trainer, and the famed King. Ranch were among the record number of arrivals checking in for the session. Bonsai, trainer of one of the largest public stables in the business, is returning to Gansett after an absence of eight years and vanned in 15 head of the division he has been campaigning at Atlantic City. The Bonsai contingent includes many capable horses that will be making their initial appearance on the New England circuit. Included in the Bonsai string were Laran, Aquarius, Rickys Scholar, Brown Vic, Melody Marge, Twice Teddy, J. P. Mar-quand, Thetf ord, Miss Transfer, Bay Queen, Prospect Hill, Regal Park, Debbie Doll, Erudition and School Bus. King Ranch, whose horses are trained by the veteran Max Hirsch, shipped in three head to be handled at the meeting by Eddie Legere. Topping the Kong Ranch group was the highly-regarded two-year-colt, Puente. The other two were Apasionada and Gaeonera. Others arriving under the care of Legere were Mrs. J. A. Grants handicap runner Africance and Red Hoops, Gay Prince and Draw. Accompanying the King Ranch horses was jockey "Peanuts" Morris, whoU do the riding. Sailed Away, the Rhode Island-owned handicap star who was a recent handicap winner in record time, headed a shipment of six sent down by trainer R. E. Harper. The others bedded down ready for the campaign were Angel Pood, Individuate, El Pacho, Swamp Theatre and Xalapa Pride.
