Sickles Image In Easy Sprint Tally Ready for Stakes At Atlantic City Boulmetis Escapes Injury in Spill Which Causes Death To Horse Boo Boo Shoo. By PALMER HEAGERTY Staff Correspondent ATLANTIC CITY, Mays Landing, N. J., Aug. 20. Clarence Hartwicks Sickles Image had everything her own. way this afternoon while scoring an easy five-length victory in the six-furlong Cloud Sweeper Purse. John L. McKnights Blue Rhymer, mainstay of a stable coupling, was second, four lengths before Mrs. E. J. Hawthornes Miss Shadow. The latter gained the show award by a head in a three-way photo, being pressed by, Mrs. Al Jensens Mollie Fagan and Brookfield Farms I Salute. Sickles Image, a much-traveled five-year-old mare by Siskletoy Ariel. Image was capably handled by Owen Headley, who was scoring his fifth victory and his first in the east. The successful team covered the six panels in. a commendable 1:11 and brought .20 to their numerous backers in the turnout of 20,363 fans. Although she has apparently lost a bit of the "zip" which enabled her to earn more than 00,000 last year, Sickles Image won in a fashion which suggested that she is to be considered in the stakes events owner-trainer Hartwick intends to start her during the current session. She raced last week-end in the Mermaid Handicap and was beaten slightly more than three lengths when Atalanta established a new seven-furlong track record. Follows Early Pace Content to follow the early pace, which saw Imalright and I Salute racing for the lead, Headley did not ask Sickles Image for real speed until midway of the turn, where she circled the leaders to vie for command. Sickles Image had darted to the front nearing the stretch, displacing Blue Rhymer, who had taken over the lead from her stablemate. The latter faltered badly and knocked I Salute into the fence. Nick Shuk, who was astride r Salute, injured his leg slightly and canceled his remaining engagements. Jockey Sammy Boulmetis was fortunate enough to escape serious injury in a nasty fourth-race spill which brought about the death of the horse, Boo Boo Shoo. Boulmetis was astride Boo Boo Shoo and the two went down when they endeavored to move betwen horses near the furlong pole. Boo Boo Shoo appeared to have suffered a broken shoulder and was destroyed. Boulmetis canceled his fifth-race mount, but returned in the sixth event astride Joe Gavegnanos Errard King. Boulmetis showed good "judgment in retaining the mount on the stakes-running Errard, King,-f or the two-year-old Errard colt was a galloping winner over the youngsters matched against him in the six-furlong number. Errard King assumed command immediately and was being eased through the final sixteenth while being timed in 1:12. He was favored at .60 and scored at the direct expense of George R. Galbreaths Roman Mirage, with Mrs. Sam Lewins Right Bit third.
