N if ty to Match Speed With Soundings Today Recent Winner at Hamilton Also Has Musical Score to Turn Back By R. E. HURLEY Staff Correspondent HAMILTON, Ohio, Aug. 20. Familiar names reoccurred in the Hamilton entries as the meeting continues on a high plane when 4,733 fans- turning 52,189 through the- machines on the first Wednesday program of the 19-day meeting. As; the fans become more familiar with the horses, these figures should ascend and a typical example of the better racing is the featured Eaton Purse- tomorrow at six and a half furlongs. B.. D. Matkins speedy Nifty meets R. E. Spicers Musical Score and L. D. Moores Soundings who competed in the Inaugural Purse on opening day while Nifty was winner in the- opening race of the- day in a sparkling 1:22 at the same- distance as the Friday feature. In addition to this threesome,. F. T. Beckers Tiny Git, winner of her last start at Cranwood, Ida Dillons Griffo,. W. C. Gillems Bold Gold, R. L. Edens A Plus and J. G. Browns Onilrac have established form over the- local course and these factors make for more interesting contests, and increased wagering.. Nifty made- the transition from the Detroit racing scene tojthe half-mile. Hamilton course with- little difficulty as he galloped : to victory on opening clay. The seven-year-old son of Tintagel My Hattie was only one and one-fifth seconds off the. track mark in his- debut and might have shattered the old mark of Bay Bam had he been pressed during the running. The Matkin racer has. a touch of class about him but will have to step, out in the- Eaton to handle the likes of Soundings, Tiny Git and Musical Score. The King Ranch castoff, Soundings, pressed all the pace in the Inaugural Purse but tired in the seven-furlong dash and wound up third to Ironclad. The Depth Charge gelding is exceptionally last and might press Nifty to a-new track mark tomorrow. Musical Score has not yet won for her new owner but is a fit matron that will earn her way here at Hamilton. Tiny Git, as noted before, was a winner at Cranwood who is making her first start on the Hamilton turns but must be given consideration.
