Sawyer to Replace Hornsby Rumor Denied by Gabe Paul CINCINNATI, Ohio, Aug. 20 UP. Gabe Paul, manager of the Cincinnati Redlegs, denied today a story from what were reported as "reliable sources", that Eddie Sawyer, former manager of the Philadelphia Phillies, will replace Roger Hornsby as Redlegs manager next year. Paul, reached in Washington, D. C, said "Roger Hornsby is still our manager. Theres been. 100 guys named. Rog has been fired 1,000 times. . .but. when a new manager is named well make an announcement."
