TICONDEROGA moved up boldly on the outside on the final turn to gain a contending position, forged to the front at the furlong marker and though drifting out .slightly lasted to prevail over TEXT. The latter came to the inside for the stretch run and closed with good energy in a sharp effort. SPARTAN QUEEN failed to sufficiently respond when set down for the final test. PUFF made the pace to the stretch under hustling tactics, was forced to take up slightly when impeded by JINGLER, but recovered readily and drew clear when fully extended. The latter raced forwardly placed-to the furlong marker" while saving ground, bore out while tiring during the stretch run and was unable to overtake the leader. BLEU FEATURE failed to respond when subjected to brisk urging. BROTHER FRIAR had no apparent excuse. TRENTON SAND and DEEP RIVER never were dangerous. Overweight Brother Friar, 1 pound. DAN-GEROUS SUN gave way to the winner at the furlong marker, but held on willingly thereafter to easily best the others. CONVOLUTION, much used early, had little left when the real test came. HIS BOOTS, permitted to settle into best stride, moved into a contending position on the final turn, then faltered when punished. SEMPER EADEM completely dominated the early running, began to weaken approaching the fifteenth jump and was unable to cope with the top ones when the real test came. FLIRTATIOUS closed fastest of all and perhaps would prefer a longer distance. MY SIN tired. NILUFER was unable to keep up while racing on the outside. MY TRULY FAIR never was formidable. ACEFULL was disqualified for fouling and placed i last PUTNEY, always within striking distance, was between ACEFULL and NEVERSINK nearing the furlong marker, and was forced to take up slightly when bumped on two occasions by the latter inside the stretch and was unable to be sternly persevered with thereafter. REQUISITION avoided the jam entering the stretch and closed resolutely. NEVERSINK held sway for a half mile white saving ground, was in close quarters while continuing on the rail during the drive and was unable to regain command. MARKET LEVEL dropped back imme-diately after the start. PACIFIC OCEAN quit. LA PEROUSE was outrun. EIGHTH RACE 1 MILE out of chute. GALLIES PRIDE, forced to take up sharply during the run down the backstretch, recovered readily to regain a contending position on the final turn, but tired as a result of her early efforts.
