Ten Two-Year-OIds Test Speed in Eagles Purse Rubio Strives for Fourth Score Of Career in Randall Park Event RANDALL PARK, North Randall, Ohio, Aug. 27. Two -year-olds matching strides at six furlongs in the Eagles Purse takes the spotlight at Randall Park on Friday. A field of 10 has been named overnight to contest the issue, which carries a purse of ,000. This is a scaled claiming race with horses entered to be claimed for either ,500 or ,000, depending on the weight carried. Ed Kellys Rubio, a good-looking two-year-old son of Papa Redbird Ermelia heads the field and will be seeking hiS fourth victory of the season andvhis third here at Randall Park. He was second in his -last outing, beaten a half length by Aldo Kid in 1:08 for, five and one-half, furlongs. Runio raced in the first flight throughout and was getting, to the winner near the end. On August 11 he beat Shady Jane by a nose and before that hung it on Cajun Belle by a neck. Slated to meet the Kelly colorbearer are Alfred C. Pauls Spring Rain, Wilmer C. Ensors Grace Brown, Norman S. Scavas Blue Shoes, Mrs. E. G. Hulcoats Gleaming Doli, Mrs. Fred Sharpes Bright Penny, H. H. Mundys Friendly Man, Mrs. Betty L. Coopers Crafty Sleuth and Thomas Piatts Hand Up. Blue Shoes, a gray daughter of Blenbah, has been a hard luck horse here lately. In his most recent race he was just beginning to make his move while on the far turn when Chief Genoa broke down in front of him and jockey Mike Caff arella had to take up on the filly. In the race before she was in contention once again on the final bend when several horses ran out and she was caught right in the middle and lost all chances. At the time of that mishap she was second only a head off the leader. She won early in the meeting when she defeated Ala Pam on July 28 by one length at five furlongs. If she can stay clear of trouble she will give Rubio a real battle. The eighth race should provide a great deal of interest as it will be contested over the turf course. In the past month turf racing has become quite popular here at Randall. A field of nine, including an entry of Golden Wing and Major Wyatt are slated to meet at about one mile. Others entered are Fabrideaux, Neds Polly, Odd Pigeon, Locadah, Jofield, Marvina K. and Oklahoma Time. Neds Polly, who is trained by M. J. Rosenthal, is in rare form at present and will probably go postward as the public choice. She won here last Saturday in easy manner, going a distance of ground on the main track. Jofield won a turf event early in the meeting, but since that time has shown very little. It will be his first go at the "turf" since his winning essay, however, and it may make a big improvement in the Sacks colorbearer. Golden Wing has won over the greensward also and should be closing well at the end.
