OFF AT 5:41 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. HIYA-SAILOR, unhurried when outrun early, responded readily when placed to pressure for the stretch run and, after taking command, won going away. WHISK-OFF raced forwardly placed to the furlong marker, was unable to withstand the challenge of the winner, but easily prevailed over the others. HAM BONE held sway to the stretch under hustling tactics, retained a slight lead when set down for the ultimate test, then tired. EVANS MOUNTAIN came out to the middle of the track for the drive, but lacked the necessary rally. STAR OF PERSIA had no excuse. PERFECT POWER was always outrun, as was DONNA BOORSE. JAM SESSION held a clear lead when settled for the stretch run, shortened stride when punished, but had enough left to prevail over ROYAL CASTLE. The latter improved his position on the oustide to the final turn, came fast during the late stages and gradually was wearing down the winner. ROSEBOROUGH, outrun early, rallied too late to become an endangering factor. BRASSFIELD quit. FIRST WING was outrun. VIOLINIST failed to stay. SOME LORD stopped badly after flashing early speed.
