Accent to Juveniles At Aqueduct Meet Astarita, Babylon, Cowdin -To Show Stake Candidates; Two Overnighters Each Day AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., Aug. 27. Aqueducts fall racing, which usually builds up to the running of the 0,000 Beldame, may find its accent on two-year-olds during the 18-day meeting, starting Monday. This situation was not planned by the Queens County Jockey Club officials, but is occasioned by the epidemic of coughing which more or less curtailed activities in the juvenile division at Saratoga. As is its custom, Saratoga stresses the youngsters and usually at the end of its meeting produces some outstanding performers. Many of the large turf establishments set up their schedules so that they start their two-year-olds at Saratoga, but the cough, ordinarily a spring occurrence, shelved such plans. Consequently, now that the cough has about run its course and the youngsters are back in training, Aqueduct will be the scene of the debuts of many finely-bred juveniles. Three Stakes Well Filled Fortunately, Aqueduct has three stakes for the division on the agenda the 0,000 Astarita for fillies, and the 0,000 Babylon and the 0,000 Cowdin, open to both sexes and they have been well filled by the prominent stables. Racing secretary John B. Campbell apparently realized the situation, as the first condition book of the Aqueduct meeting, covering the initial 10 days of the meeting, cards two races a day for the youngsters. The Astarita, billed for fillies, attracted 47 nominees, headed by Mrs. George D. Wideners "Evening Out, the undefeated daughter of Shut Out Evening Belle. This filly seems to have her division all locked up, but there is a possibility that something which has hot shown in the area may crop up. The Babylon and Cowdin, open to both sexes, attracted large lists, 73 for the Babylon and 87 for the Cowdin. Honors in this department are open with Wheatley Stables Quick Lunch, winner of three stakes; James C. Bradys Artismo, winner of the Grand Union and Sapling Stakes; Brae Burn Farms War Piper, Joe W. Browns Bobby Brocato, winner of the Schuylerville; Llangollen Farms Porterhouse, disqualified after finishing first in the Saratoga Special; Cain Hoy Stables Turn-to, the English-bred who moved up into the winners spot through Porterhouses disqualification, and C. V. Whitneys Fisherman, the early season phenom, among the eligibles. Much interest is evidenced in the expected showing of Hasty House Farms Hasty Road, winner of the Arlington turity.
