KALLUKI, forwardly placed from the start, took command from CONQUERANT during the stretch run and held the latter safe. CONQUERANT went to the front at the start, set the pace until inside the stretch, but could not withstand KALLUKI. BYRONIC was sent to the ouside for he drive and closed fas in a good effor. SMART EVE was unable to better her position when set down in the drive. TRE TIO had early speed, but failed to stay. BURGOO PLAY could not keep up. LAMBENT showed nothing and pulled up sore. GRANNY D. WAS CUT BADLY IN THE NEAR ELBOW DURING THE POST PARADE AND WAS ORDERED WITHDRAWN FROM THE RACE WITH ALL WAGERS ON HER REFUNDED. LITTLE DON G. gradually worked way forward, was sent to the middle of the track for the stretch run and, closing strongly under urging, wore down ETERNAL FROLIC in the last strides. The latter, a sharp factor from the outset, established a good lead when settled in the stretch, but could not withstand the winner. OPOZO lacked early foot, but finished fast under brisk handling. PERMAN was outrun. SMOOTH PALM could not keep up. HI GAIL, hustled to the lead early, set the pace for a half mile, then gave way when challenged by ETERNAL FROLIC.
