. First Night and Wickel Team Up at Fairmount Combine Set to Prove Repeaters In Tonights Litchfield Purse By WILLIAM C. PHILLIPS Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., Aug. 27. -The one mile and a sixteenth Litchfield Purse tops a nine-race card to be presented here tomorrow night. The field lists nine platers, of whom four were successful in their last appearance. C. J. "Abe" Martins First Night was the most impressive in victory and rates favoritism. The other recent winners are Mrs. R. E. Houses Boulevardier, D. Wrights Final Leave and Jack Ficklers Charbob. The race appears to center on this quartet, with the exception of W. M. Wells Just Abbe, who has given two poor efforts since arriving here from River Downs, but is well spotted for a winning essay tomorrow night. Les Wickel, who rode three winners to become the leading rider here last evening, has the assignment on First Night. The seven-year-old Eight Thirty gelding was just recently taken over by Martin and has shown sharp improvement under his training. After running First Night in a sprint race, in which he had a tendency to bear out, Martin equipped his charge with a fancy set of blinkers vith a long cup on the outside and a short cup for the rail side. The results were concrete, with First Night romping away at the start and winning easily by five lengths.
