Phillies Sign Young Hurler BUFFALO, N. Y., Aug. 27 UP. Jerry Kucharski of Cheektowaga, N. Y., today signed a Philadelpia Phillies contract which will become effective next season. Kucharkski, former Cleveland Hill High School pitcher, has pitched six no-hitters in the last two years and has averaged 14 strikeouts, while twirling for the Cheektowaga Travelers in a suburban league. Phillie scout Art Kusmierski said that Kucharski had "received a substantial bonus."
