Several Hurt at Hagefsrown When Rows of Benches Go Down HAGERSTOWN, Md., Aug. 27. Approximately 20 persons were hurt and several dozen shaken up here yesterday afternoon when four rows of ground level benches collapsed in the clubhouse, throwing the spectators to the paved surface. The mishap occurred during -the running of the eighth race. Police said one of the spectators standing on a set in the back row apparently lost his balance, toppling the bench forward and causing a "chain reaction" in the rows in front. The benches went over like "dominoes," one witness said. Track guards, directed by Theodore Noss, head of the track police, pulled the injured free. Three ambulances took the most seriously hurt to the hospital. The other injured were treated at the scene by the race track physician, Dr. John A Moran. Twelve of the victims, were hospitalized briefly. All but one woman were released after examination.
