Thwarted Forgery Attempt HAMILTON, Ohio, Aug. 27. Alert police work by Capt. William Murphy, chief of the Hamilton track police, thwarted attempts by forgers to counterfeit tote tickets here at the race track. Two different attempts were made to cash altered tickets of the Midwest tote machines which are almost impossible to change because of the embossed dye used in the machine. Murphy and his assistants questioned the Newport, Ky and Covington, Ohio, persons who attempted to cash the tickets; then escorted the alleged forgers from the grounds after taking their names and addresses.
