Big Money Gains Popular Accounting at Randall Consistent Bull Lea Colt Almost Two Lengths Clear of Nickey W. By RONALD A. KRANCER Staff Correspondent RANDALL PARK, North Randall, Ohio, Aug. 27. Big Money, owned by the estate of Samuel D. Riddle, scored a popular length and three-quarters victory in the featured Plain Dealer Purse here this afternoon. Nickey W. was second three parts of a length before Isle of Bond who was a like margin before Mahoon. The winner completed the six furlongs in 1:10, and paid .80 as the third winning favorite of the afternoon.-John Nazareth rode Big Money. A crowd of 5,626 attended the program in 90 degree heat. Immediately following the race Gordon Cobbledick, sports editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, presented a trophy to jockey Nazareth who accepted on behalf of trainer Lloyd Gentry. Nickey W. showed in front briefly at the start, but Big Money moved through between horses to grab the lead soon after the start. Continued from Page One moving up while on the outside in fourth spot. Big Money hugged the rail as he darted into the far turn and was in front by two one one-half lengths with Skin Junior still second though beginning to grow weary and Mahoon in third position. Spunky was fourth followed by Isle of Bond, Nickey W. and Barometro. Midway around the far turn Isle of Bond started to move under Joe Servis and, racing into the stretch went into the runner-up position, but trailed Big Money by three lengths. Mahoon was still third at the furlong marker with Nickey W. coming on in fourth spot. Inside the furlong marker, Big Money started to tire and drifted wide in the final sixteenth, finishing near the outer fence. The son of Bull Lea had a big enough lead, however, that it didnt matter too much and he crossed the line with a daylight advantage. Isle of Bond, meanwhile, hung badly in the late stretch and was passed up by Nickey W. - Stefan and Cashels Winter Land, who was bred by Mrs. Ellsworth H. Augustus, scored an easy six-length tally in the sixth race in the good time of 1:11, and the winning daughter of Sky Raider paid 0.60. Martha P was second a length and one-half before Maripam, who bested Molly Marie by a nose. Winter Land moved through on the inside midway up the backstretch to wrest command, and on the far turn the filly was in front by a length with Exodus second. Racing into the. home lane Winter Land increased her advantage to three lengths and in the final furlong doubled that margin in a very easy manner. The victress was winning her first race in August and her fourth of the year in 18 starts. She has been in the money five other times.
