Richards Leaves Hospital; Hopes to Ride in English Derby SALISBURY, England, May 24.— Sir Gordon Richards, British jockey champion* who suffered a concussion in a racing spill Wednesday, left Salisbury Infirmary today and said he hoped to be ready to ride Queen Elizabeths colt, Landau, in the English Derby, June 2. "Of course, I hope to ride in the Derby,-" Richards said as he waved good-bye to his nurses. "I hope there arent 13 of you," Richards said to a group of photographers before stepping into an ambulance to ride home. Richards has ridden 4,844 winners — more than any other jockey in racing history. but he attained his lifes ambition only last year when he won the famed Derby with Pinza. It was his first victory in the classic in 28 tries. Roy Manders, 17-year-old apprentice who suffered a broken leg when his horse collided with Sir Gordons Wednesday, was reported in "satisfactory" condition. He will remain in the infirmary until next week.
