OFF AT 5:47 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. HASTY ROAD, under stout restraint while setting the pace, drifted out entering the stretch while responding to strong pressure, then held CORRELATION safe. The latter, sluggish as usual early, worked way into contention nicely, was laying on HASSEYAMPA while the two were moving together, then was unable to wear down the winner. HASSEYAMPA, allowed to settle into best stride, was moving nicely with CORRELATION when the latter drifted out, was forced to take up sharply and, after being sent inside, lacked the necessary late response. Kirklands claim of foul against CORRELATION for alleged interference was disallowed. GOYAMO, badly outrun early, was unable to get within striking distance of the top three while under hard urging. FOR FREE failed to reach contention. RING KING, taken under restraint while in a bit close rounding the first turn, weakened in the final quarter. GALDAR showed nothing. JET ACTION was a factor for six furlongs and weakened. NIRGAL LAD gave way badly. ADMIRAL PORTER was outrun, as was GIGANTIC. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-2 MILES. War Trophy, Nov, 8, 1948— 2:29%— 6— 114i. CEPHEUS made up ground through the final half mile. BROTHER GHOST failed to rally. CORTINA was through after a mile and a quarter. TOY HUNT weakened in the late stages. B0 MOWLEE quit. APPROVAL fell when crowded along the inside nearing the quarter pole.
