L. Reynolds Vasco Da Gama this afternoon accounted for the mile and one-sixteenth Towson Purse, .best race on Pim-licos all-claiming program. Mrs. Danny Sheas Dry Vermouth was beaten slightly more than a length while finishing second, with Glenn C. Smiths Go West winding up third in the seven-horse field. Receiving credit for the saddle score, his second of the afternoon, was apprentice Walter Blum. The latters other winner, Keystone Stables Changeling in the second race, is trained by George Zateslo, as is Vasco da Gama. Dry Vermouth cut out the early pace in the Towson, saving ground on the turn while being rated by Nick Shuk. The latter roused his mount sharply through the stretch, but his efforts were to no avail as Vasco da Gama drove alongside him from the outside and steadily drew clear to be a length and one-quarter in front at the wire. Shuk Astride Lajoie Shuks efforts in the previous race were better rewarded, for he -scored with Patty-day Stables Lajoie, who returned 1.40 straight. Lajoie drove between horses during the stretch run to outfinish W. C. En-dors Amawalk and Alan T. Clarks Bobola Mowlee after six furlongs in 1:12%. Lajoie scored his first win in seven starts this season. Trainer Alan T. Clarke and jockey Robert Runyon registered doubles early in the program, winning the opener with Floyd Brewers Sea Play and the fourth race with Evening Song. Sea Play, who held a six-length lead at the furlong pole and just lasted to win by a head, paid .00 and started a Daily Double which was worth 0.60 when Changeling got home in the second race. Evening Song was an easy winner by six lengths and paid .60. Two-year-olds met at five furlongs in the third race, and the winner in come-from-behind fashion was Jouett Shouses Louree, a liberal .60 favorite in the limit field of a dozen. John Pons Fire Fire Fire, who held a clear lead until the final yards, weakened to be beaten almost a length in 1:02%. Third money went to M.
