More Support for Ambler II. In Epsom Derby June 2 Special to Daily Racing Form LONDON, May 24 Reuters. — Belair silks bearer, American-bred Ambler TX, returned to favor at the Derby callover held at Victoria Club here tonight, which saw the heaviest wagering yet on the Epsom classic. The ex-favorite Ambler TJ. was backed heavily following news of a smart work-out with two recent winners. He wound up at 100 to 9. A week ago Ambler was offered at 25 to 1. The favorite, Rowston Manor, was in keen demand tonight. When the chairman finished calling he had been backed to 11 to 2. Blue Sail, Johnny Longdens confirmed mount, was not in demand but Irish owner Joe McGraths Valerullah, conqueror of the One Thousand Guineas winner, Festoon, at ten furlongs at Salisbury, Wiltshire, this week, was heavily played. His odds shrank rapidly to 100 to 6. He was 40 to 1 at the last callover. Closing odds were: 11 to 2 on Rowston Manor, 7 to 1 on Darius, 9 to 1 on Ferriol, 10 to 1 on Landau, 100 to 9 on Ambler TJ., 100 to 6 on Blue Sail and Vatigullah, 18 to 1 on Elopement, 25 to 1 on Infatuation, 28 to 1 on Arabian Night, 33 to 1 on Court Splendour and Lavengro, 40 to 1 on Fal-staff, Alpenhorn and Blue Rod.
