Bishop Duo in Michigan City Purse Dixie Spy Winner At Lincoln Meet Vici Admiral Goes Into Dash Feature With Three Wins to Show for Orleans Campaign * LINCOLN FIELDS, Crete, 111., May 24.— The Michigan City Purse, for three-year-olds at six furlongs, rates as the feature attraction on Tuesdays program at Lincoln Fields. Five fillies will engage an equal number of colts and geldings in this event. The latter quintet includes the two-horse entry of William Hal Bishop consisting of the chestnut gelding, Dixie Spy, and the gray colt, Sky Jeep, both recent winners, and each with two victories to his credit this season. Sky Jeep, 118, is top weight under the conditions of the race, with Dixie Spy, 116, carrying the next highest impost. The balance of the field consists of Frank Cerni-vivos colt, Saint Sarazen, 111; M. M. Mitchells gelding, Gallant Answer, 114; H. L. Freyns colt, Local Clover, 114, and the following fillies: Valley View Farms Vici Admiral, 109; Mrs. Harry Trotseks May Lee H., 106; S. F. Barteckis Sunset Star, 105; LocustLawn Farms Pondering, 109, and M. Muroffs Canary Island, 111. Besides the Bishop pair, earlier season winners in this field are Vici Admiral, with three victories to her credit; May Lee H., with two wins; Gallant Answer and Saint Sarazen with one each. The latter won his first start of 1954 on March 24 in Florida. May Lee H. scored her first win of the year on February 11 at Hialeah and followed that with another victory at Keene-land. Sunset Star Only Maiden in Field Sunset Star is the only maiden among the 10 in the Michigan City Purse. Ponder -ings two victories last year at two included the Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders Dinner Purse at Hawthorne. Canary Island won three races last, season and Local Clover scored oh one occasion. • Bishop, perennial leading trainer on Illinois tracks in recent seasons, has played a more or less secondary role so far this year, but he started later than usual at the local tracks, having made an early foray into New England before coming back to.
