Myers Sussex Circle in the sixth event here today. Lost Colony, who was unprepared at the start, was up to gain third money. Edward Plesa was aboard the winning daughter of Blandisher, who graduated from the maiden ranks this afternoon. The victress paid .60 and was clocked in 1:21% for the six and one-half furlongs over a fast strip. Muriel provided Plesa with a double. For the first time in weeks, summery weather prevailed and a shirt-sleeved crowd of nearly 4,000 attended the sport as the meeting entered its final full week of racing. Activity winds up here on May 31. Ladylocke was first to show in front in the sixth race with Sussex Circle coming out second and Bay Queen third. The ultimate winner broke fifth, having been bothered somewhat by Prince Rideau, who bore out at the start. Sussex Circle assumed comvmand as the field raced around the first turn and into the backstretch, Li rlette was second, a head in arrears, and another half-length before Ladylocke, with Muriel, another head back in fourth position. Midway along the backstretch, Muriel worked her way up and was racing as a team with Sussex Circle as the two approached the far turn. LAiglette was third, two lengths farther back, and another head better than Ladylocke. The only horse in the second filght that was moving was Lost Colony. Entering the he - o lane, Muriel moved past Sussex Circle and in the remaining furlong increased her advantage much as jockey Plesa wished. Sussex Circle held on j well for second money while Lost Colony was up to gain third position. Muriel was starting for the ninth time this season and in two four and one-half furlong dashes at this track looked very good and gave the indication that she would gladly "go on." H. W. Little Money, Le Mor, Boiling Bay, Battle Boat, Golden Tempest, Efcee, Inspite, Mrs. Malabash, and Make Haste. Little M-iney and Inspite will run as an entry as both horses are trained by Norman Brown. u Make Haste was awarded first money, although finishing second to Harinikin in her last start over the track. It was revealed, following the race, that the winner had been stimulated. Make Haste is well suited at this middle distance and should not have too much trouble winning on her own merits. t Inspite and Boling Bay figure to provide the Paul colorbearer with the most competition. Another race on the program which should provide interest is the seventh event, scheduled at one and one-sixteenth miles. A field of eight have been named, including the Surber entry of Foxation and Brun-hilde, both recent winners here. The entry may go postward as the slight favorite in here, but John K. Wynkoops Excel, who is equal high weight at 118 pounds with Foxation, usually runs a hardhitting race and should make a real battle of it. Excel was entered in the Victory Plate on Saturday, but did not get into the fray.
