Y„ May 26"*— Native Dancer, who galloped two miles on the training track this morning without any apparent ill-effect to. his tender right forefoot, has been honored with 133 pounds in Mondays 0,000 Suburban Handicap. Alfred G. Vanderbilts gray champion won the Metropolitan Mile on May 15 with 130 pounds, beating Green-tree Stables Straight Face by a neck. That four-year-old gets in with 118 pounds, one more than he cairied in the shorter race and a shift of two pounds in his favor. Last year, the Greentrees Tom Fool won the Suburban under 130, beating Royal Vale a, half length, then dropped to 128 in the Suburban and beat Mrs. J. R. H. Thou-rons English horse by a nose. Tom Fool, however, had never won at more than a mile and three-sixteenth, while Native Dancer has successfully traveled a mile and a half. Royal Vale, who finished a respectable third behind Wise Margin and Find in the Massachusetts Handicap a week ago under 126 pounds, has been given 125, one more than he carried in last years Suburban. The Invader has been training busily since his race at Suffolk Downs. Rejected Assigned 124 - King Ranchs Rejected, winner of the Santa Anita Handicap and still in California, is third in the Suburban weights with 124 pounds, but, of course, will not start. Vanderbilts Find, who is a possibility, has 122 pounds. He is also eligible to the Brandywine Handicap at Delaware. John S. Phipps Level Lea, another comparative highweight with 120 pounds, has yet to make his seasonal debut. The probables in this 68th edition of the Suburban, in addition to Native Dancer and Straight Face, include Brookmeade Stables Capeador, 116; C. V. Whitneys Cold Command, 110; Valley Farms Impasse, 110; Cain Hoy Stables Armageddon, 1 109; Hampton Stables Alerted, 108, and Spring Hill Farms Jamie K., 107. Native Dancer, who took a couple of bad steps after a brisk work at a mile and a furlong on Sunday, is a probable Suburban starter, according to trainer Bill Winfrey, if he can work tomorrow or Friday morn-[ Continued on Page Forty-Three Photo by Mike Sirico. The colt apparently twisted his foot after the trial, slightly injuring it inside the coronet band. His shoes were removed and X-rays taken, which revealed no injury. This morning he was to be shod again, and it was planned to gallop him a mile on the training track and another mile on the main track. His regular blacksmith overslept, however, and the big gray was eventually shod by Leroy Andrews. The main track was closed by this time and The Dancer galloped . twice around the deeper training track, coming back playing. Trainer Winfreys comment was, "So far, so good." Two Haye Won Under Heavier Imposts Two horses have successfully carried heavier burdens than the 133 pounds assigned Native Dancer in the Suburban. Whisk Broom H. set his disputed track record of 2:00 under 139 in 1913, after having won the Metropolitan with 126 pounds. In 1923 Grey Lag won it under 135. The only other Suburban winners to carry 130 pounds or more were Equipoise, 132; Devil Diver, 132; Armed, 130, and Assault, 13K Equipoise also finished second under 134 pounds in 1934, beaten by Ladys-man, who carried 114, while Ethelbert and Mad Hatter carried 130 pounds into second place in earlier years.
