Menow-Peggy Byrne Colt Champion in Virginia Nydrie Stud Yearling Selected At Horsemens Association Show MIDDLEBURG, Va., May 26.— With perfect weather and a large turnout of interested spectators, the Virginia Horsemens Associations annual "show of yearlings" attracted a large number of top colts and fillies at the Glenwood race course here. The grand championship of the show was awarded to a chestnut colt by Menow, out of Peggy Byrne, by Stimulus, exhibited * by D. G. Van Cliefs Nydrie Stud at Es- mont. The reserve championship award went to a chestnut filly by Sun AgaiiVQut of Phantasy, by Psychic Bid, exhibited by Brookmeade Farm. The official results, in the order in which the classes were shown, follow: Class 1, for fillies sired in Virginia, was won by Mrs. Marion Scotts bay filly, Nydia, by Heliodorus — Nerepha, by Pharis. However, pending the receipt of the registration papers on this filly from The Jockey Club, delayed because of the fact that she is out of the German mare, Nerepha, who has not as yet been cleared, the officers of the association awarded the first ribbon to the entry of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Rives, a bay filly by Irish Luck — Kissan-run, by First Chance. When the papers have cleared on Mrs. Scotts filly, a duplicate award will be made. Second award went to Mrs. C. M. Greers Heavens Above, bay filly by Grand Admiral — Heaven Hill, by Tintagel. The third ribbon went to G. P. Greenhalghs entry, a chestnut filly by Beau Gem — On .t h e Rocks, by Grand Time, with fourth ribbon to Brookmeade Farms entry, a chestnut filly by Beauchef— Big Meal, by High Quest. Fifth place went to John W. Cuttings entry, a chestnut filly by Irish Luck — Grammercy Miss, by Barred Umber, and sixth to Colin MacLeods bay filly by Alquest — Fibber, by Mate. Class, 2, the open class for fillies, with i 25 entries, was won by Brookmeade Farms filly who later was named the champion filly, and the reserve grand champion of the show. Second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth ribbons were awarded in that order to the recipients of the first, second, third, fourth and fifth ribbons of the previous class. Class 3, for colts and geldings sired in Virginia, had 19 entries. William E. Schlusemeyers entry, a chestnut colt by Knockdown — Sampler, by Aethelstan H. or Theatrical, received the firt award, with second ribbon going to Mrs. E. H. Bennetts dark bay colt by Wrack of Gold — Bonnie Dundee, by Glanford. Third ribbon went to Mrs. Page Jennings bay gelding by Baron Jack, out of Betsy Heather, by Dear Herod, and the fourth award to a chestnut colt by Courtney — Top Know, by Head Play, exhibited by W. G. Jones. The fifth award went to Mrs. George P. Greenhalghs brown colt by Grand Admiral— Tedeen, by Teddy, and the sixth ribbon to H. Loomis bay colt by Principle— Red Wampum, by Judge Hay.
