Big Ten Officials Hold Important Confab Today TV, Recruiting, Aid to Athletes Among Topics to Be Taken Up LAFAYETTE, Ind., May 26 UP.— Big Ten officials will open a major meeting Thursday with decisions possible on 1955 , football television policy, revised regulations on recruiting and aid for athletes, and 1957-58 grid .schedules. I The joint group of faculty representatives and athletic directors was slated to;| nandle the proposed regulations on recruit- ing and -aid. It was understood it would provide for, aids based upon need as well as scholarship ; and would include a deadline after which; no athlete could switch from one school! to .another. * ! Football coaches actually began working j on the 1957 and 1958 schedules Tuesday j! night, but no settlement was .reported im-ij mediately. However, it was possible that; the schedules would not he completed dur-jj ing this session, as preparation of the 1955 ! and 1956 program required four meetings.; Recommendations for a policy on television in 1955 will be considered after recruiting policy, and possibly no decision will be reached. Other angles of television which will be discussed "will cover a policy on films for television as well as a 26-week series after the end of the football season. Football coaches also were -expected to discuss exchange of film for scouting, limitation of scouting, the game, ball, uniforms and officials for future Rose Bowl games. The directors also -were to hear a report from the Rose Bowl selection committee/ which is attempting to recommend procedure in the future to name the Big Ten representative in case of a tie for the championship.
