Wichita Lass Trying For Repeat at Omaha Engages Bamma, Rihill, Indel Jr. And Detective in Twilight Purse By J. R. BATTY Staff Correspondent AK-SAR-BEN, Omaha, Nebr., May 26.— Twilight racing, the "first such program of this young meeting, will be offered fans in this area Thursday with starting time for the first race set at 3:30 p.m. CST. This post time for the first race will prevail every Thursday during the 35-day meeting. The featured test on the eight-race bill has been titled the Twilight. Posted as the sixth race, the main attraction is an allowance race for three-year-olds and older horses. A limit dozen starters with three additional horses listed as "also eligible" accepted the conditions presented to vie at six furlongs for a purse of ,160. The line-up in the Twilight includes Ed Luthers Wichita Lass, the longest priced winner of the current session when she returned 8.00 after accounting for the fifth race on Friday. Although Wichita Lass is the only winner at this meeting among the group, several others have finished close up in local tries. Fred Wyses Bamma, after setting the pace in the one and a sixteenth miles featured sixth race on Saturday, was nipped at the wire by Mintaka, who was an odds-on favorite in the wagering. Bamma has been, turning in excellent morning trials since arriving here following a busy spring campaign on the New England circuit where she won one race and was five times second. Rihill, owned by B. Gaughan, turned in a commendable performance on Friday when third to Wichita Lass by slightly better than two lengths. This was his first appearance under silks since the latter part of March and the five-year-old son of Mor-mond Hill — Rifore may have needed the outing to reach peak condition. Indel Jr. was denied a purse by Pontalba competing- in the second race on Saturday. Indel Jr. held sway until the closing stages of this dash of six furlongs and failed by less than a length behind Pontalba. Another who just missed Saturday, performing as favorite, is Detective, who was downed by Pair Spec by a half length at the end of five furlongs in the fourth race. Others in the field are Heller, Positive, Hollys Girl, Nevada John, Decontrol, Aunt Daisy, War Dash, Line Driver, Queen Martin and Eternal Sam. i The feature race on Tuesdays card, conducted over a fast strip and witnessed by a crowd of 7,339, was captured by Fred Wyses Andromeda. Secondjn her previous attempt over the local course, Andromeda earned the top portion of a ,575 purse in the sixth race by coming to the end of one mile and 70 yards with a pair of lengths to spare over Earl Careys Royal Ghost, the publics choice in this allowance contest. Another two and a half lengths farther back, Dr. Tulip was third among the seven-horse field which furnished the interest. Andromeda paid 1.80 after going the distance in 1:42% and was guided by jockey Eugene Curry in this winning performance.
