Thompson, Giants Outfielder/ Suffers Kneecap Fracture NEW YORK, "N. Y., May 26 UP.— A fractured left kneecap, suffered in a slide at home plate against the Pittsburgn Pirates Tuesday night, sidelined third baseman Hank Thompson of the New York Giants today for "10 to 30 days." Thompson was outfitted with crutches and "was directed not to place any weight on his injured knee. He will begin whirlpool treatments shortly. The Giants dnfielder suffered the injury when he was thrown- out at home plate in New Yorks 21-4 rout against the Pirates. Thompson foanged his knee against Pirate catcher Jack Shepards .shinguard. Billy Gardner replaced him in todays 2-1 triumph -over Pittsburgh.
