Porterhouse Heads List Of Kent Stakes Nominees Delawares Mile and Sixteenth Feature Scheduled for June 5 STANTON, Del., May 26.— Llangollen Farms Porterhouse, 1953 juvenile champion who numbered the Christiana Stakes here among his five victories last year, heads the impressive list of 83 eligibles for the seventeenth running of the 5,000 . added Kent Stakes, mile and a sixteenth fixture for three-year-olds to be renewed at Delaware Park June 5. The event attracted among other leading sophomores, eight stakes winners this season who accounted for 11 major added money tests. Porterhouse, rated equal highweight with Turn-to, early Kentucky Derby choice, in the Experimental Free Handicap, recently scored a smart victory over older rivals in the Knickerbocker Handicap. In his other start as a three-year-old, Porterhouse scampered home an easy three-length winner over allowance company at Santa Anita. The stakes winners this year are Joe W. Browns Gigantic, Louisiana Derby and Swift; Mrs. Ada L. Rices Ring King, Cherry Blossom and Chesapeake; Woodvale Farms Goyamo, Bahamas and Blue Grass; Brookfield Farms I Geegee, division of Delaware Valley; Hasty House Farms Hasty Road, Derby Trial and Sea O Erin, Fountain of Youth; A. L. Birchs Timely Tip, Arkansas Derby, and Maine Chance Farms Jet Action, Withers. Three well known racing establishments, Maine Chance Farm, Brookfield Farm, and Joe W. Brown, were the most liberal nominators, each naming four candidates. In addition to the aforementioned stakes winners the Maine Chance Farm of Mrs. Elizabeth Graham is represented by Black Metal, Model Busher and Super Star; the Baltimore-owned Brookwood Farms by I Appeal, I Que and I Up; and Joe W. Brown by Bobby Brocato, Gentilly and Mel Leavitt The Greentree Stable and Woodvale Farm will be aiming for a triple in the Kent. Greentree won previous runnings with Hall of Fame and Wine List and Woodvale was victorious with Page Boots and Kaytee.
