ROSIERE was a keen challenger from the beginning racing outside rivals, leaned in on HOPE MARIE inside the last sixteenth, was taken off, but again drifted in near the end. ROSIERE was disqualified for impeding HOPE MARIE at the far turn and in the stretch run, and she was placed second. HOPE MARIE vied for the pace, racing between horses, was briefly leaned on by ROSIERE in the last sixteenth and again near the finish and hung. BOMBDRA was hustled to the front from the inside soon after the start, held on well into the stretch and weakened. P. 0. ANNEX raced wide into the stretch and finished well. JOYCEY BABY was outrun. HIGH BRACKET was under steady pressure, drew into a clear lead on the final turn and held DAMION safe. The latter lacked early speed, found a large opening while rallying on the stretch turn and loomed boldly, but slightly hung. NIGHT RAID saved ground after lacking early speed and finished well. STAYER was eased back racing on the inside at the far turn, raced wide into the stretch, then rallied mildly when punished in the last three-sixteenths. DEETZI had speed for a half-mile. HAPPY RABBIT had brief speed and bore out badly on the final turn. PRIAMS SPECIAL was pinched back sharply at the far turn. DEEP RUN, held in reserve during the fast opening quarter mile, rushed around the leaders on the final turn and responded when punished to hold ZEALOT safe. The latter began slowly, found ample room between horses, rapidly making up ground on the turn and appeared dangerous in the drive, but lacked the necessary reserve. HEADDRESS broke slowly, steadily improved position and finished well for her placing. LAMPO had good speed for a half mile and faltered. COMANCHE repeatedly was taken in hand racing up behind horses next to the rail. JUNALUSKA and MAJO showed high early speed and quit. HIDDEN POWER showed nothing. MON HOMME gradually improved position, quickly raced into a short advantage over WARS HISTORY, saving ground just inside the last furlong and outfinished that rival under strong handling. WARS HISTORY was under light pressure setting the pace, lost command while swerving out in midstretch, but drifted back in near his rival and then fought it out gamely. SIX BILLS raced prominently placed and slightly weakened. ARADAC did not respond when called upon. POST PAID was outrun. BUNNYS BOY went slightly in the air at the break. Overweight— Pelage, 1 pound. FLAPPER was steadied off the pace, raced slightly wide rallying from the final turn, but closed resolutely and bested FAT BOY in the last fifteen yeards. The latter was steadily urged and gradually raced to the front, opened a clear lead entering the stretch, but did not have enough left for the final stages. MARYLAND LINE was sluggish and outrun for five furlongs, hugged the inner rail while rallying and loomed boldly midstretch, but hung. MISS BENZ easily set the pace for almost six furlongs and held on fairly well when displaced. RONAS was lightly rated into the stretch, then - lacked a response. LEGEND OF CONFEY, racing between horses from the beginning, rallied strongly through the final furlong and was up in the last strides to catch WAR PHAR. The latter, closely pressing the pace throughout, opened a clear lead in the stretch, but suddenly tired near the end. WARMED OVER, taken back through the opening quarter mile while racing next to the rail, was steered outside the field as he prefers to race at the far turn and, though losing ground, rallied in company with the winner but could not stay at the end. CORFEL, lightly steadied into the stretch, rallied only mildly when called upon. GREY HOUR was restrained into the final stages, but finished willingly. LIGHT STEP could not keep up on the outside. VARSITY was steadied saving ground close to the bunched leaders, came out slightly settling into the clear behind ALGASIR at the head of the stretch and steadily closed in to be up near the end. ALGASIR was sent between horses to challenge soon after the start, disposed of BRONZE WARRIOR after a half mile, but did not have enough left to resist the winner. BRONZE WARRIOR vied for the pace into the final turn and weakened. BELLUNO lacked speed to be with the first flight, saved ground on the turn and rallied mildly. PLUS FOURS, POST PRANDIAL and ZUYDER ZEE vied for the early lead from that order to the outside and they dropped back on the turn Scratched -33517 Sweet Vermouth, 112.
